I WANT TO JOIN

WHAT IS DAVEN FOR A FRIEND?

Daven For a Friend is a practical response to our ever increasing need for prayer (daven in Yiddish), unity and lovingkindness. This project aims to deepen our realization and actualization that WE ARE ALL CONNECTED – for we are all part of The One. You are invited to help rebuild the world on the basis of love.

When you join, you will commit to doing one small act daily. This allows you to tap into the great capacity for love that Hashem has wired into each of us. There is no one who doesn’t need prayer and thinking of another is an act of unconditional love and brings healing to the world.

Anyone who prays for a friend, for something that he needs as well, he is answered first.” (Talmud)

Step into your greatness. Join Daven For a Friend and become a part of a global movement of women who are committed to praying for one another.

OUR GOAL

To unite women and connect to something greater than ourselves; greater than us all.

WE ARE ALL ONE!

OUR PATH

Holding another in your heart and praying for them. This allows us to tap into the great capacity for love that Hashem, G-d has wired into our souls.

OUR SECRET WEAPON

Love. For when there is love all of our actions are charged with a supernatural power. As Rabbi Akiva the Elder would say, “Loving another as yourself is the fundamental principle of the Torah.”

OUR MESSAGE

Through our prayers we have the power to tap into our Divine connection and bring love and healing to the world.

WEEKLY INSPIRATION

Once a week, all participants are invited to a worldwide unity call with Rivka Malka Perlman. The call will begin with a prayer session and continue with an exploration of prayer and Emunah (faith).

Just as a small flame can dispel a great deal of darkness. So too can one positive prayer trigger the exponential love needed to repair the world.

HOW IT WORKS

This program has 2 components: A weekly, half-hour online gathering with Rivka Malka Perlaman, and, a daily commitment to pray for your “prayer recipient.”

What is a prayer recipient? A prayer recipient* is a person in your life to whom you choose to direct the power of your prayer. This can be someone you love, someone you seek to forgive, or just someone you know who can use some support.

*It is customary to articulate your prayer on behalf of {their name}, son/daughter of {their mother’s name}.

SELECT A DAILY PRACTICE

9

Select one of our suggested practices to integrate Daven for a Friend into your daily life.

  • Have a set chapter of Tehillim/Psalms to say daily with your “prayer recipient” in mind.

  • Pick a part of your daily routine (Jewish ritual, morning coffee, bedtime etc.) and connect a chapter of Tehillim/Psalms or personal prayer to that time. Use your own routine as a daily reminder to pray for your “prayer recipient.”

  • Place a Post-it note with your “prayer recipient’s” name in a high traffic area of your home (not the bathroom). Whenever you pass by the Post-it, take a moment to say a personal prayer or send a positive thought for your “prayer recipient.”

HASKAMA/APPROBATION

Tefilllah is called “avodah”, service or work. It demands that you put aside your need for control and surrender it to Hashem. Letting go of ego is never easy.

Tefillah byad Chavrio takes this one step further. Not only do the members of the group go beyond their own egos, they go beyond focussing on their individual needs by praying for someone else’s needs. Nothing could be more unifying, more precious or more real.

With sincere admiration,

TZIPORAH HELLER
